Newsroom: e-Newsletter

"Blogs are journalism at its most raw... If newspapers write the first draft of history, then blogs are the reporter's notes."
— Paul Gillin, Vice President of Editorial and Editor-in-Chief, TechTarget

As 2004 comes to a close, we're spotlighting a new channel that has forever changed the communications landscape — namely, weblogs or blogs.

Blogs have emerged as a fast, effective and sometimes controversial means to voice opinions, reach key audiences and even drive sales. As of Q3 2004, they've grown to more than 3 million instances on the Web. From a corporate standpoint, they're proving to be wildly successful... if they're done right.

In this edition of our "Trend Watch" newsletter, we've highlighted a few articles that explore what makes a good blog, as well as tips and tools for added visibility. And since every rose has its thorn, we've included what you need to know about corporate liability as executives and employees fan the fires in their own blogs. We've also listed a few PR/media blogs and resources that are worth checking out.

We'd also like to thank everyone who attended our "Best Practice PR Campaigns in Europe" seminar on November 9th, co-hosted with Johnson King PR. The response has been incredibly positive and we appreciate everyone's time and thoughts on what it takes to develop and lead a successful global PR effort. In this edition of our newsletter, CHEN PR principal Chris Carleton recaps his thoughts on international branding and PR, and offers some helpful advice when structuring a global effort of your own.

Since there is not enough room in this newsletter to share all of our thoughts on these topics, we welcome the opportunity to compare notes with you. If you'd like to discuss how blogs, wikis and other channels can be leveraged to increase awareness and generate media coverage, please call Chris Carleton, 781-672-3115. Thank you.
