Local Tech Community Joins CHEN PR and Network World to Kick Off Holiday Season with Red Cross MetroWest Fundraiser

Funds Raised at this Week's Event Bring Combined Total Raised to $23,000

WALTHAM, Mass. and SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. - December 7, 2006 - More than 100 high technology CXOs, marketing, sales and public relations executives, reporters and investors packed the Mezzanine Atrium at Waltham's Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel on Tuesday evening for the annual Red Cross fundraiser, "Everyday Heroes: Celebrating the American Red Cross." Sponsored by CHEN PR and Network World, proceeds raised through the reception and silent auction bring to more than $23,000 the amount generated for the Red Cross by CHEN PR/Network World benefit events since December 2005.

"On behalf of the Red Cross, I'd like to thank the generous employees and friends of CHEN PR and Network World for their support of our efforts," said Linda Driscoll, Director, MetroWest Area, American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay. "Contributions at this time of year are especially welcome, because they enable us to provide for the critical day-to-day services required, while enabling us to make sure local families in need experience a more enjoyable holiday season."

A highlight of the evening was a performance by The Stardust Show Chorus (www.stardustshowchorus.org). Directed by accomplished musician and Boston- Power Founder and CEO Dr. Christina Lampe-Onnerud, the chorus entertains audiences with a cappella harmonies ranging from jazz, pop, swing, traditional and gospel to blues and barbershop.

In addition to an iPod nano door prize, attendees bid on silent auction items including Red Sox and Celtics tickets, fine dining and jewelry gift certificates, a catered event, a chartered fishing trip and original pottery, artwork and photography.

The American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay MetroWest supports 1 million people in 35 cities and towns with an array of invaluable programs. Last year alone, the group distributed 21,000 bags of groceries to families in need and responded to 51 disasters, fires, floods and gas leaks, aiding 316 children and adults with lodging, food, clothing and medicine. More than 1,400 children in need received holiday gifts and toys.
