The New March Madness

For many people March is all about brackets, upsets and staying up late watching college hoops. The CHEN gang is certainly clocking as much NCAA Tourney viewing time as we can; but basketball aside, March Madness has taken on a new meaning here at 71 Summer.
Every February since forever, RSA Conference has taken place in San Francisco. This year, however, the biggest security conference in the country decided to throw us a curve ball (sorry, there was no fitting basketball metaphor) by running from April 20-24. So with many of our NCAA brackets being busted early on anyways (looking at you, Baylor), CHEN’s madness this month has been about planning for the behemoth that is RSA Conference. And with nine security clients attending I’m certainly not exaggerating when I say it’s madness.
This year will be my third RSA Conference with CHEN and my first time attending the show. Not only am I an RSA newbie, I’m a trade show newbie. I’m not going to lie and pretend I’m not feeling anxious; I’m sure the anticipation in the final days before the show will have me shaking in my PR lady boots. But I’m also excited to get to experience firsthand the chaos that I’ve heard so many stories about. Not to mention I finally get to put faces to the names and voices of execs I’ve worked with after years of staffing press calls and facilitating email interviews. But I think I’m most looking forward to seeing the real-time results of all the hard work CHEN has invested in making our clients’ time at the show as valuable and productive as possible.
This blog is the first in series I’ll be writing about my first experience at RSA Conference, so stay tuned for more pre-show updates and blogging right from the show floor. And don’t you worry: in between keynotes, press interviews and coverage reports, I’ll be sure to pencil in some time for fun and hopefully create some of my own “Only In San Francisco” memories.
